FAQ
Common Questions
Short answers about copying, compatibility, Unicode limits, and how the tool behaves across apps.
Can this translate Wingdings back to English?+
Yes. Switch to Wingdings to Text and paste symbols that match the included Wingdings chart. Recognized symbols decode instantly and unknown characters remain visible for manual checking.
Is Wingdings a language or a cipher?+
Wingdings is a symbol font, not a language. Because each supported key has a predictable glyph, people can use it like a simple substitution cipher for puzzles and themed messages.
Does this Wingdings translator work for Gaster?+
It supports the original Wingdings associations commonly used for Gaster-style fan messages. Other Undertale fonts, custom images, Wingdings 2, and Webdings may not decode with the same key.
Why does copied Wingdings look like emoji?+
Some Unicode symbols have emoji presentation on modern devices. Their meaning and code point can stay the same even when the artwork changes. The local font preview is available when the Wingdings font is installed.
Does the translator upload my message?+
No. Encoding, decoding, and copying run locally in your browser without an account or translation API.
Are Wingdings 2, Wingdings 3, and Webdings supported?+
This page targets the original Wingdings mapping. The other symbol fonts use different keys, so their symbols should not be decoded as original Wingdings.
